Built in 1879, this bridge is another example of an old stone arch.
When originally constructed, it was built as a single track structure. In 1896, the bridge was widened for a second track.
Arches like this typically remain in great condition over a hundred years after being built. This one is no different, although the interior walls have not been inspected.
The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the common design but old age. The nearby Goette Road Bridge is believed to be the oldest single span stone arch in Wisconsin, built in 1878.
The photo above is an overview. The bridge can be seen from WI-78.
